What is Poesie Sans, Souci? Poesie, simply means poetry. While studying in Germany, Kaysha realized how all encompassing this word can be. It can be poetic, epic, and aesthetic! Sans, Souci is a play on words inspired by a trip to Sans, Souci Palace, located just outside of Potsdam, Germany.

“It basically means “without, worry.” The comma here playing a particular role in the meaning. My hope is that my writing here can be artistic, creative and inspiring, reflective of my travels, thoughts and goals. So whether it is, or is without, I will write.”

Kaysha is the author of the fiction novel, One Way Tickets. She grew up in the sunniest city in the United States: Yuma, Arizona, and plains of Colorado. She raised Angus cattle and show lambs in addition to competing on and owning a horse for most of her life. Her studies brought her to Fort Collins, Colorado and Colorado State University. She soon became a vegetarian and changed her course of study. Her life has been a series of happy accidents – serendipitous occurrences that have brought her to right where she needed to be. She is an avid cook, an advocate for change and regularly blogs about travel, sustainable living, homesteading, herbal livestock and animal care, herbal wellness, and personal motivation.

She studied German and international studies, history and creative writing during her undergraduate degree, then furthered her studies in German language, literature and culture during her master’s degree studies. With an insatiable wanderlust, she explored Europe via CouchSurfing, Mitfargelegenheit.de, as well as hitch-hiking. She studied German in the Black Forest area of Freiburg im Breisgau in southern Germany and then continued her graduate studies in the medieval town of Bamberg, Germany in Bavaria.

Kaysha published her master’s thesis at Colorado State University in 2012, and promptly set out into the world again, with a backpack and two hiking shoes forward on the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage across Spain with her older brother, Kent.

Next, she made her way into marketing as an executive assistant and then a community manager working with web pioneer, tech wellness advocate, author and public speaker, Aliza Sherman. From 2015-2016 she had the opportunity to work with the northwest Community College Initiative (NWCCI), a government funded exchange program through the Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs near Seattle, Washington. There she coordinated a grant between three Washington State community colleges, facilitating cultural exchange between students from underserved countries and Americans. She eventually made her way back to Arizona, where she works in the Center for International Education in international admissions at Northern Arizona University supporting international students on their journey into the American higher education system.
